Mypressi TWIST Mini Espresso Machine

Saturday 23 May 2009 @ 7:55 pm

Mypressi TWIST Mini Espresso Machine

There are few things in life better than espresso; it’s caffeinated, it tastes fantastic, it’s like concentrated coffee, –did I mention it has a ton of caffeine? Anyway, espresso is generally a fabulous experience that is generally restricted to Starbucks, or if you don’t ride the corporate franchise pony, then you like your espresso from smaller independent coffee shops frequented by people with laptops and Truman Capote novels. Or you could fit into that third category of people who are lucky enough to have espresso machines at home, i.e., you have the cash for a home espresso machine, both costly and requiring a ridiculous amount of maintenance. In which case, good for you.

But there is a better option! The Mypressi TWIST Mini Espresso Machine. This thing is amazing; check out the video.

Basically, it runs on gas cartridges, which you can pick up at cooking stores, or online. The espresso pods are available from Mypressi, but when the product finally debuts, there are probably going to be a few companies out there that start replicating the pods, so you’ll be able to get them cheaper. Look out for the Mypressi TWIST this fall!

Namco’s Dead to Rights: Retribution – A Worthy Resurrection?

Saturday 23 May 2009 @ 7:53 pm

dead_to_rights_ii_ps2

Namco has recently resurrected the Dead to Rights franchise, by going all the way back, and starting from scratch with the recent addition to the series “Dead to Rights: Retribution“. View the trailer here.

In the meantime, it seems like just starting from scratch is the popular choice, at least with films, according to G4 writer/personality Andrew Pfister:

“The back-to-the-kitchen approach has become commonplace in the movie and TV industry (see: Battlestar, Batman, Star Trek), and some would argue that Nintendo does this with every Legend of Zelda, but this is the first time that I can remember a game franchise hitting the Big Reset Button.”

In the game, it’s up to you to use Jack Slater, and his companion, the dog Shadow (you’ll be able to play the dog as a full character), to search for clues, and discover a conspiracy. Then there’s the journey through some great fight scenes, original and awesome graphics as you try to discover the secret. The blood is pretty vivid, and the action is hot; we’re looking forward to it!

Environmental Technology Is Finally Clear

Saturday 23 May 2009 @ 7:51 pm

konarka

Actually, you can say, it’s practically see-through! Konarka, a solar energy company based in Lowell, Massachusetts, –a mecca for industrial development for over a hundred years, –has teamed up with the Arch Aluminum & Glass to create the Arch Active Solar Glass.

So what is it? The solar glass is used for making home windows, and of course they are energy efficient, double paned glass to lock in both hot and cold air, and save consumers tons of cash on the utilities. But that’s not what put these windows in the news.

It’s the thin sheet of solar material between the two panes of glass, called a “photovoltaic cell”;  it’s transparent, and can be lightly tinted in different colors. These prototypes are incredibly valuable, because they erase the obligation for green builders and solar energy users to choose between the unattractive overhead solar panels, and the complex spandrel solar energy systems. However, the real question some skeptics have presented, is whether or not the windows are economical, or if they’ll catch on in popularity with the public. Only time will tell, as competitors develop similar solar energy solutions, and as ‘green construction’, trends spread in popularity.

Guy fixes WWII-damaged buildings with Lego bricks

Saturday 23 May 2009 @ 7:50 pm

Germany suffered extensive damage during World War II. And today, if you visit Berlin, you can still find bullet holes and bomb blast craters on some of the city’s famous buildings and landmarks.

Thanks to Jan Vormann’s enthusiasm and his passion for Lego! He and some kids, parents and grandparents took the project “to another dimension” and filled up holes in walls around town with Lego bricks. He did this before in Italy and Israel. This time he did it in Berlin. Brilliant!

Obama picks Charles Bolden to lead NASA

Saturday 23 May 2009 @ 10:48 am

charles-bolden-nasa-head

President Barack Obama has chosen former U.S. shuttle commander Charles Bolden to lead the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the White House announced Saturday.

If confirmed by the Senate, Bolden would be the space agency’s first African-American administrator and and the second astronaut to hold the post.

The retired Marine Corps general flew on four space shuttle missions and commanded the first shuttle mission to include a Russian cosmonaut as part of the crew.

Lori Garver, a former NASA associate administrator for policy and plans and a space policy advisor to the Obama campaign, will serve as Bolden’s deputy.

“These talented individuals will help put NASA on course to boldly push the boundaries of science, aeronautics and exploration in the 21st century and ensure the long-term vibrancy of America’s space program,” Obama said in a statement.

Britain’s Got Talent: Carrie Ann O’Dell’s burlesque routine (video)

Saturday 23 May 2009 @ 10:06 am

carrie-ann-odell-burlesque-britains-got-talent

Britain’s Got Talent auditionee Carrie Ann O’Dell stunned Piers Morgan and Simon Cowell with her sexy burlesque routine.

Sitting in a giant Martini glass, the 28-year-old dancer stripped down to her nude-colored underwear and writhed around during her Dita Von Teese inspired performance.

Carrie Ann has worked in the entertainment industry for ten years—acting, singing and dancing. She was trained at the London School of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

We will upload the video of Carrie Ann’s performance later. Britain’s Got Talent airs tonight (May 23) on ITV1 at 8.20pm. Tonight’s episode will be a 90 minute special, incorporating the final auditions and the judges’ deliberations and decisions on which acts will go into the live semi-finals.
